Lip Pigmentation: Do You Have Any Idea To Stop Pigmentation Of Lips

Causes Of Pigmentation

The skin tissues of lips are very delicate and sensitive and are therefore vulnerable to pigmentation caused by smoking and overexposure to the harsh rays of the sun. Lack of sufficient vitamins and minerals in the diet may also lead to poor circulation of blood in the lips and cause irregular pigmentation. Excessive consumption of caffeine-based products may also darken the lips. The most effective way of solving the problem is to quit smoking and restrict the consumption of coffee. You should also make it a habit to apply a sunscreen lip balm that has a high moisture content in order to defend your lips against harmful ultraviolet radiation as well as prevent them from becoming too dry. This will keep your lips soft and pink. Drink at least 10 glasses of water every day to keep your lips naturally well hydrated and to improve the supply of blood to the area.

Remedies To Stop Pigmentation

In addition, there are a few simple remedies that you may follow at home to reduce pigmentation of the lips naturally. Mix half a teaspoon each of glycerin and honey and add to it a few drops of lemon juice. Smear this mixture gently on your lips and allow it to dry naturally for 10-15 minutes before washing your lips with water. While honey heals dry and damaged skin cells, the acidic juice of lemon works as a natural bleaching agent and lightens the color of the lips gradually. You may also use a natural scrub made by adding a pinch of sugar and a few drops of lemon juice to a teaspoon of olive oil and use it on your lips every night before going to bed. Alternatively, add a little lemon juice to some clarified butter and massage your lips gently with this mixture to remove dead skin cells. It is also useful to apply a little petroleum jelly on the lips at night before going to bed. For another remedy, mix half a teaspoon of almond oil with a teaspoon of milk cream and apply this mixture on the lips. The lactic acid present in milk cream restores coloration to the dark patches on the lips, while almond oil moisturizes and nourishes damaged skin cells. Topical application of some fresh yogurt is also an effective way of turning the lips pinker. To make the remedy more effective, add a few drops of lemon juice and a pinch of turmeric powder to the yogurt and then apply it on the lips.
