Mosquito Bites Remedies – How To Prevent Mosquito Bites And Home Remedies

Mosquito Bites Remedies And Prevention

There are several simple home remedies for treating mosquito bites. One of the most popular ways of getting rid of the itching and burning sensation caused by a mosquito bite is to moisten the area with a little water and then rub it with some common salt. Salt is a natural disinfectant that instantly soothes inflamed skin. You could also dab the area with a little ammonia in order to get rid of the itch. If you have some peppermint toothpaste at home, smear a bit on the bitten area to get a cool, soothing sensation immediately. Washing the area with apple cider vinegar is also very helpful. Applying the juice of aloe vera leaves on the skin is another popular way of relieving inflammation and itching. Since mosquito bites typically create a strong urge to scratch the area, there are chances of an infection developing on the wounded skin, from the traces of dirt in your fingernails. In order to prevent such infections, you should simply slice a lemon into half and use the inner side of one slice to scratch the area. This relieves the itch as well as minimizes the risk of local infections. Another useful remedy for treating mosquito bites is to take a little baking soda and hold it tight with your palm against the affected area for a few minutes. This decreases the itching and soothes the skin. Alternatively, you could also mix equal portions of baking soda and witch hazel and use a little water to make a thick paste, which should be applied on the mosquito bite for instant relief. Simply rubbing the area with an ice cube is also helpful in reducing the stinging sensation caused by mosquito bites. You may also apply a little honey locally on the bite. For another remedy, soak some Epsom salt in half a cup of water and wash the area with this solution. In addition, you could also crush a few fresh basil leaves and massage the affected area with the juice extracted from them. Besides these remedies, you should also adopt a few preventive measures to keep mosquitoes away in the first place. Make sure that there is no stagnant water around your house, as this is a favorable breeding ground for mosquitoes. Do not let water accumulate in flowerpots, fountain bases and unused tires for more than a couple of days. You could also spray a solution of beer or mouthwash and water in and around your house to keep mosquitoes away.
