Natural Remedies For Dandruff

The most common remedy for dandruff is lime juice for which you can use 2 tablespoons of it to wash your hair after the last rinse. Massage it onto the scalp to remove stickiness and reduce the dandruff. Mix two spoons of green gram powder into half a cup of yogurt and apply on the scalp and hair twice a week. You can soak two spoons of fenugreek seeds overnight and grind it into a fine paste early in the morning. Wash it off with soap nut or if unavailable, a shampoo with no alcohol content. Boil the top and roots of white beet and use the water to massage your scalp every night before going to bed. Wash your hair with an organic shampoo in the morning. Apply apple cider vinegar using a cotton swab in between washing your hair, and use it on your hair for the final rinse. The smell will fade off in half an hour and this will help disperse the dandruff. Dry Indian gooseberry pieces in the shade and then add to coconut oil and boil the mixture till the pieces are black and crumbling. Apply before and after your hair wash for best results. A little camphor mixed into margosa oil and applied after washing the hair is another time tested remedy. As far as diet is concerned, fruit juices are a must on a daily basis and if possible thrice a day. However, take care to avoid citrus fruits, tinned products, bananas and other dried or stewed fruits. Keep off caffeinated drinks and beverages, white flour, sugar, pickles and other condiments. Brush your hair with a comb that has rubber edged bristles to improve the circulation in the scalp and massage the scalp to dislodge dandruff and dirt. Do not wash your hair on a daily basis as this strips the hair of its essential oils, but do not let it go unwashed for more than three days. Drink plenty of water and occasionally expose your hair to the sun, but not at the risk of causing sunburn, and use a mildly medicated shampoo on your hair thrice a week.
