Puffy Eyes Remedies: How To Remove Bags Under Eyes From Crying

Quick Remedies For Puffy Eyes

It is always healthy to cry because crying not only helps in expressing emotion, but also helps to clear the dirt that lodges itself in the tear ducts. Tears are also essential for keeping away eye infections and keeping the eyes moist. In most cases, people find that their eyes appear puffy after a good cry. This is mainly because of the muscular activity that the eyes undergo while crying. The sodium content of the tears is also responsible for the swelling. Because of the high level of sodium, it is not the eyes that swell up, but the eyelids that do. This puffiness is uncomfortable, unattractive and very conspicuous, and as a result of this, people often look for ways to get rid of the puffiness.

As in most cases, time is the best healer for puffy eyes that are caused by crying. With regular movement of the eyelids, the sodium is flushed out and the puffiness reduces. One of the best ways to reduce puffy eyes is by increasing the amount of water you drink, because water helps in flushing out toxins from the body, including those that are causing your eyes to puff up. Rest is also important in helping the body restore its balance, and rejuvenates the fluid content of the body. Too much of strain on the eye following a crying bout may delay the healing process. It is however, recommended that you do not sleep immediately after having cried, because if one goes to sleep after crying, there is a possibility that the eyes will remain puffed up on awaking, because the eyelids have not been given enough exercise to flush out the sodium and other irritants from the eyes.

Relaxing the skin by cooling the area around the eyes is an effective way of getting rid of puffiness. Cold slices of cucumber and potato, when placed over the eyelids, help in relieving any pressure on the eyes by relaxing the muscular tension. Leaving these slices to rest on the eyelids for approximately fifteen minutes will also relieve pain and stress and gradually reduce the puffiness. These vegetables will also assist in doing away with dark circles that appear around the eyes. Ice cubes, wrapped in a soft towel, can also be placed on the eyes to eliminate puffiness. Placing moist tea bags, which have been refrigerated, on both eyes simultaneously for 10-15 minutes will also prove beneficial in getting rid of puffiness.
