How To Remove Stretch Marks Using Home And Herbal Remedies

Natural Removal Of Stretch Marks Is Possible ?

Stretch marks are the result of excessive stress that the skin undergoes when one suddenly begins to put on weight. The skin cells are not able to produce elastin and collagen at the rate at which fat deposits accumulate beneath the skin, which causes fine red lines to appear beneath its surface. Gradually, these lines turn pale in color and are known as stretch marks. Though the condition is popularly associated with pregnancy, both men and women who adopt severe exercise and diet regimes to lose weight rapidly are also prone to getting stretch marks. Teenagers also get stretch marks when there is a sudden spurt in their physical growth. These marks appear mostly around the abdomen, waist and thighs, as the skin is pulled to its maximum extent in these parts of the body. The best way to prevent the appearance of these marks is to gain or lose weight gradually.

It is not very easy to get rid of stretch marks once they have set in. However, there are a few natural remedies that you may try at home in order to make them fade away gradually to some extent. Massage the affected area of the skin with mildly heated olive oil every day in order to improve blood circulation in the skin and make the stretch marks look less prominent. Topical application of a few drops of lavender oil is also a useful remedy for stretch marks. To make the remedy more effective, you may also mix with the lavender oil half a teaspoon each of chamomile oil and almond oil. Alternatively, mix a teaspoon each of calendula oil and wheat germ oil and apply this on the skin every day in order to lighten stretch marks. Massaging the skin with a little castor oil also helps prevent the marks from becoming more prominent. A very popular and effective means of removing stretch marks is to massage the skin twice a day with some cocoa butter. Topical application of sandalwood paste while the marks are still appearing is helpful in keeping the skin well moisturized and preventing the appearance of very prominent stretch marks. In addition, it is also useful to eat food rich in zinc, such as fish, eggs and nuts, as this mineral aids the natural healing process of the skin and gradually makes stretch marks fade away. Eating plenty of fresh fruits and raw, green vegetables also helps give the skin a smoother appearance.
