Lupus Butterfly Rash: Symptoms And Home Remedies For Lupus Skin Rash

Symptoms Of Lupus Butterfly

Lupus is a chronic inflammatory disease in which the body’s natural immune system begins to destroy the connective tissues of body parts and organs. This condition affects body joints, kidneys, blood cells, skin, lungs, and the heart. The distinctive symptom of this condition is the appearance of butterfly-shaped rashes on the cheeks, outer parts of the ear canal, and the bridge of the nose. Red, scaly skin patches may appear on the trunk, arms, legs, and the scalp of a patient experiencing this condition. Commonly, the blood vessels and follicular openings around these patches also become more prominent. The rashes often expand and sink in the center, leaving behind scars on the skin when they dry out. If the symptoms of lupus are restricted only to the skin, it is referred to as discoid lupus erythematosus (DLE). Other common symptoms include skin lesions, mouth sores, hair loss, dry eyes, paleness of the skin on the toes, and fingers. On being exposed to cold or under stressful conditions, hair loss, pain and stiffness, and swelling in body joints may also be experienced. The symptoms of lupus may vary from individual to individual and time to time in terms of their intensity so no two cases are exactly alike. Typically, the symptoms become more acute during a short period of time and are known as flares. This disease is partly hereditary in nature and is often triggered by factors like prolonged exposure to harsh sunlight, external injuries, regular intake of certain drugs, and viral infections. It has been observed that middle-aged women are most susceptible to this condition, though the reason behind this is not known. Lupus is a serious ailment that needs to be supervised and treated by a doctor.

Consume a small portion (100 milligrams) of raw turmeric orally every day. If you find the taste of turmeric too strong, you may grind it with some honey and then consume it. Turmeric has natural anti-inflammatory and healing properties that minimize the intensity of the symptoms of lupus. Consuming a small dose of grapeseed extract daily can also be useful in treating this condition. Moderate doses of fish oil supplements and flaxseed oil are also believed to be of help in such cases.
