How Can You Get Rid Of Age Spots On Your Face
Causes Of Age Spots
Age spots, also known as liver spots or brown spots, primarily occur on the face, neck, arms, and shoulders. As the name suggests, the occurrence of these spots is directly related to aging. However, one of the main causes of these spots is over exposure to sunlight. Age spots are caused due to increased production of the tanning pigment known as melanin. Moreover, they can also be signs of impurities in the body or some kind of dysfunction.
While age spots are prominent in aging skin, the cause for these spots is not necessarily old age. As mentioned above, the spots formed on the skin are a direct reaction to overexposure to sun. Age spots tend to appear on the face after the age of 55. While most spots are harmless and cause no harm other than that to cosmetic appearance, sometimes they can lead to skin cancer in the elderly.
Apart from sun exposure, age spots can also be a result of inadequate liver function, improper nutrition, or dietary deficiencies. An accumulation of toxins in the system as a result of changes in diet and metabolism can also lead to the formation of age spots.
