How to perform the Baddha Konasana

Sit on a comfortable yoga mat with your legs straight out in front of you. Exhale, and slowly bend your knees so that your heels come together. Bring your heels as close to your pelvis as you can. Press the soles of your feet together and drop your knees to the mat. If you are unable to bring your knees to touch the floor, try to sit on a raised platform or stool.

Now grasp your big toes with each hand, using the thumb, index, and second finger. Your left hand should grasp your left toe, and your right hand your right toe. Try to hold this pose for as long as you can. Slowly return to the starting position.

As you become more adept at performing this bound angle pose, you may want to try more difficult variants. One such variant is the Supta Baddha Konasana, also known as the Goddess pose. Although the basic technique remains the same, this pose is performed while you are lying supine on you back.
