Chicken Pox Treatments For Skin Rashes And Irritation

Chicken Pox Symptoms And Treatments

Chicken pox is a mild disease caused by the varicella-zoster virus that most children catch at one time or the other. Characterized by sporadic rashes in the form of tiny red spots on the skin, the duration of this disease can range anywhere from ten to twenty one days. The spots come up in successive crops, so that while some are drying, others begin to form. There are a number of herbal remedies to eliminate the itching and discomfort that is associated with this disease. There are also home remedies to eradicate any marks left by the lesions.

Brown Vinegar is one of the most useful home remedies to heal chicken pox lesions. Add half a cup of brown vinegar to warm bathwater. Bathing in this water brings instant relief and also heals the lesions. Alternately, you could also bathe with oatmeal. Boil two liters of water with two cups of oatmeal for twenty minutes. Put this mixture in a cotton cloth bag and tie the open end with a string. Allow this bag to float in a tub of warm bathwater and then stir up the bathwater using this bag. Bathe the infected child in this water ensuring that the water goes over all the scabs. This is one of the most effective ways to heal the chicken pox lesions quickly.

To relieve the irritation caused by the rashes, use green pea water. Boil fresh peas in simmering water for a long time and wash all the lesions with this water. You could also use baking soda for the same purpose. Mix baking soda in a glass of water and sponge the child with this water. This controls the itching effectively and keeps the child from scratching the eruptions. Honey is another herbal remedy that has been used with excellent results. Smear the affected child’s skin with honey and leave it on for half an hour before washing it off with lukewarm water. This treatment helps in healing the scabs within a span of two days.

Turmeric and Margosa are other effective remedies. Make a paste of either turmeric or Margosa with water and apply it all over the lesions. For best results, one could also use a combination of both. Let the paste dry and then replace it with fresh paste. Repeat this exercise thrice each day and the cure is bound to be expedited. Drinking a soup of fresh coriander and carrots is also said to aid the healing process greatly. Put the child on a juice diet as soon as the disease hits and move on to a fresh fruit and then a balanced diet as the condition improves.
