Summer Skin Care Tips To Maintain Skin Glowing And Healthy

Tips And Home Remedies For Skin Care

Your skin needs to be taken special care of during the hot summer season. The skin becomes especially prone to blemishes, pimples and suntans during summer. To begin with, you should drink plenty of water every day not only to make up for the moisture your body loses through the natural process of perspiration but also to ease digestion and flush out toxic materials from your system, which is essential for healthy, glowing skin. Also, drink tea spiced with mint, cardamom or fennel as this helps keeps the body cool and prevents skin eruptions. Avoid eating oily and spicy foods, alcohol, carbonated and sweetened cold drinks and too much non-vegetarian food as these are difficult to digest, especially during summer and can cause the build-up of toxic wastes in the body, which can lead to skin problems. During summer, the rate of secretion of sebum increases, which makes the skin look greasy. Wash your face frequently with cold water in order to prevent oiliness and accumulation of dirt and dust. You may also use a moisturizer with a low oil content when you are indoors and must apply an effective sunscreen lotion whenever you step out in the sun.

Homemade Products For Skin

In order to moisturize and rejuvenate your skin naturally, mix equal portions of cucumber juice and watermelon juice and massage your face gently with this mixture every day. You could also use rose water as a natural soothing toner. Every alternate day, you can make a natural bleach by mixing 4 tablespoons of milk, two tablespoons of lemon juice and one tablespoon of honey. Apply this paste in an even layer to you face, neck and arms. Allow the paste to dry completely and then wash it off with lukewarm water. This will make your skin soft and oil-free. You may also replace the milk with yoghurt if you have oily skin. If you have very dry skin you can add a few drops of olive oil to the paste to moisturize your skin and provide it with additional fatty acids. You also need to exfoliate your skin regularly, as dirt and grime get clogged in the pores of the skin very easily during summer and give it a rough, wrinkled look. Heat about ½ a cup of water and once it boils take it off the heat. Add one teaspoon of oatmeal to the water and allow it to soak undisturbed until the water has cooled completely. Add a teaspoon of baking soda and mix the paste thoroughly. Use this paste as a face pack to cleanse your skin of all dirt and grime.  Alternatively, you may make a face pack by mixing together some homemade curd, one teaspoon each of lime juice and gram flour, a few crushed mint leaves and the pulp of a small piece of carrot.
