Red And Itchy Skin Bumps – Remedies For Allergic Skin Rashes

Causes Of Red Itchy Skin Bumps And Allergic Skin

Itchy bumps on the skin may appear due to a variety of reasons. Sometimes mechanical and chemical processes such as shaving, waxing and bleaching irritate the skin, especially the hair follicles beneath the epidermis, and cause the eruption of small red rashes. Contact with certain allergens present in cosmetic products or in the external environment may also trigger the appearance of itchy bumps on the skin. Even sudden changes in the weather may cause sensitive skin to get inflamed and break into rashes. Excessive perspiration is sometimes responsible for heat rashes which can cause itching. More rarely, skin disorders such as hives and psoriasis might lead to bumpy, itchy skin.

There are several simple ways to prevent your skin from getting irritated. Avoid foods like eggs, milk and dairy products, white flour, coffee, alcohol, tobacco and peanuts that might trigger allergic skin reactions. Always use a sunscreen lotion before stepping out of doors, as this protects the skin from the harsh rays of the sun and prevents it from breaking into bumpy rashes. Drinking plenty of water every day keeps the skin naturally hydrated and detoxifies the system, thereby reducing the chances of allergic reactions from occurring on the skin. Eating lots of fresh fruits such as lemons, grapes, oranges, plums and peaches is also helpful in preventing skin rashes. You should try using cold water to bathe and wash your face, as this soothes the skin and minimizes chances of skin eruptions. You may also add half a cup of apple cider vinegar or some tea tree oil in your bathwater every day to prevent rashes and skin irritation. Applying evening primrose oil all over your body after bathing is also very helpful in preventing itchy skin bumps. For an effective home remedy for skin rashes, mix equal portions of rose water and vinegar and massage the bumpy skin with this solution very gently. This brings immediate relief from itching and irritation and makes the bumps disappear in a short while. For another remedy, mix one part of mint with three parts of unrefined sugar, boil the mixture in a cup of water for 5 minutes and store this decoction in a container. Sip a spoonful of this solution every morning to prevent the appearance of itchy skin bumps. Dabbing the affected area with a solution of a tablespoon of oatmeal powder and a cup of distilled water also helps treat itchy bumps on the skin.
