Ear Crackling Remedies

Crackling of the ears can definitely be annoying and at times very painful as well. This condition could be brought about due to fluid build up in the ear. When the fluid changes location it can cause the crackling sound. What you would need to do in this situation is relieve the built up fluid in the ear.

Here are a few home remedies that you could try to get rid of the built up fluid. Drinking herbal tea many a time’s helps in reducing the fluid build up. The herbs present in the tea, coupled with the heat can penetrate your ear canal and help in opening the ear canal. If you have olive oil at home, take about 1-2 teaspoons and warm it a little. Put a few drops of the oil into your ear (please ensure that the oil is not too hot), this will soothe your ear canal considerably. Pure grain alcohol is also very effective. Put about 2-3 drops in your ear. Do this once during the day and once at bedtime. This will dry up the moisture that is present in the ear. Another option would be using steam. Steam helps in releasing pressure. Boil some water in a pot; try not to make the water too hot lest you burn yourself. Next take a towel and use it cover your head and the pot. Make sure that your head is over the pot while it is covered. Wait for about 10-15 minutes before taking the towel off. Keep doing this daily for about a week.

Yawning and eating also help in reliving any pressure on our ear canal. Both of these activities can cause one to move the jaw muscles to such a point, that it releases the pressure being exerted on the ears, which then allows any, built up fluid to be released. Since you cannot keep eating throughout out the day, try chewing on some gum or mint. You could pour ½ a teaspoon of hydrogen peroxide into your ear. Let it stay in the ear till the bubbling sound stops after which drain it out. This will open the ear canal and draining any fluid. However, please consult your doctor before you try out this remedy. If in a week’s time you notice no difference, then it could a more serious condition such as an ear infection or an ear inflammation. Consult a physician, as, if ignored it could have grave repercussions.
