Lower Back Pain Relief – Tips To Prevent Back Pain And Treatment

Lower Back Pain Remedies

Lower back pain mostly results from the regular wear and tear of the muscle and bone tissues at the end of the spinal cord over time or due to exertion of excessive pressure on the back on a regular basis. In some cases, lower back pain may also be caused by a condition called osteoarthritis in which there is a defect in the structure of the spine. Lower back pain commonly manifests itself as a throbbing sensation that begins after some physical labor or on moving from a static position after a long time.

Your chiropractor or family doctor would be in the best position to evaluate and diagnose the exact nature of your back pain. In most cases, it is seen that back pain is brought on by a muscle strain and/or a series of muscle spasms

You should make it a habit to sit upright in order to minimize gradual damage to the tissues in your lower back. Keeping your body weight in check is also essential to ensure that the lower back is not put under too much pressure. It is also advisable that you avoid carrying heavy weights on your back on a regular basis, as in the long run this might cause serious damage to your spine and cause persistent lower back pain. Wearing footwear that evenly spreads out the body weight across the feet is also recommended. It is also important that you give your back enough rest after a period of active physical labor, as this naturally gives the muscles, ligaments and bones of your lower back the time to recover from the strain they have been put through. Avoid excessively soft and spongy cushions and mattresses as a rule, as these may add to the problem. Besides these general rules, you may also follow a few simple home remedies to relieve lower back pain. Applying hot packs is known to be of great help in relaxing tense muscles and lessening pain. If the pain gets intense, you should also alternate the hot packs with cold compresses at regular intervals throughout the day. This reduces local swelling and helps ease the nerve endings in the lower back, thereby providing relief from pain. You may also drink warm soups flavored with ginger, turmeric, chilies and black pepper, as these condiments have natural anti-inflammatory properties that help reduce back pain. For another remedy, chew a few cloves of raw garlic during every meal. Alternatively, you could fry a few cloves of garlic in 50ml of mustard oil for a few minutes and then collect the clear extract. Consume this extract every morning to relieve back pain. You may also mash a raw potato to pulp, tie it up in a piece of cotton cloth and use this as a poultice to rub your lower back before going to bed every night. This is an effective way of reducing lower back pain.
