A bee sting typically consists of three parts, namely a stylus and two barbed slides. The bee does not push in the sting but it is drawn in by barbed slides.

- You can mix honey with a few drops of lemon and apply it on the bee sting. This will help you relieve swelling, itching and redness caused by the bee sting. Honey helps to nullify the effect of the toxin inserted with the sting while lemon juice serves to sanitize the area.
- You should also apply fresh Aloe Vera gel on the bee sting to alleviate the swelling.
- You may also apply calamine lotion to reduce itching and swelling caused by the bee sting.
- One of the best known remedies to cure a bee sting is to rub a piece of iron on the affected area. This will result in a direct contact of ferrous ions with the toxins in the area, leading to a negating of the effect of the toxins. Needless to say, make sure that there is no rust on the piece of iron that you use.
- You can also apply ice packs on the bee sting frequently to the extent of 5-7 times a day. This will help relieve the swelling and would also alleviate the itching and inflammation caused by the bee sting.
- You can also apply a pack of sandalwood and chilled rose water to cure the swelling caused by the bee sting.
- You are also advised to use fresh onion juice so as to relieve the swelling caused by the bee sting. You may pace a slice of freshly cut onion on the area, cover it with a bandage, and leave it undisturbed for a while. Onion is supposed to extract the toxins from the sting, thereby relieving the affliction.
