Dry Skin around my Mouth, Lips and under my Nose
Dryness of skin is caused when the sebaceous glands that lie beneath the skin fail to produce oil in adequate amounts. This problem becomes especially pronounced in harsh arid climates and in the dry, cold winter season, when atmospheric humidity reaches very low levels. Sometimes, dryness of skin is also hereditary in nature. Excessive exposure to direct sunlight and use of harsh soaps and cosmetic products containing harmful chemicals may also rob the skin of its natural oil and moisture content and render it dry and flaky.
Useful Tips to Avoid Excessive Dryness of Skin
There are a few basic rules that you should follow to avoid excessive dryness of skin. Wash your face frequently with cold water instead of using a strong cleansing soap or face wash. This helps keep the skin naturally soft and well hydrated. Make sure you apply a moisturizing sunscreen lotion that suits your skin type every time you step out of doors. This defends the skin against the harmful ultraviolet radiation of the sun. Besides these precautionary measures, you may also follow a few particular natural remedies to prevent dryness of skin around the mouth and nose. Immediately after bathing or washing your face, pat yourself dry with a soft towel and massage the skin gently with the juice extracted from fresh aloe vera leaves. You may also use commercially available aloe vera extract on the affected areas. This helps soften the skin and moisturizes it naturally. A simple remedy for dry facial skin is to mash a ripe banana and apply its pulp on the affected portions of the skin. Leave this on for 15-20 minutes and then rinse it off with lukewarm water.
Also, before going to bed every night, massage the area with a mixture of almond and olive oil. This helps make the skin around the mouth soft and supple and prevents it from drying up too easily. You may also use avocado oil in the same way for better results. For another remedy, boil two tablespoons of oatmeal in a cup of water for 5 minutes and add an equal amount of honey to it after it cools down. Now apply this paste on the affected areas and leave it on for half an hour. Wash your face with cold water after this. This helps remove dead skin cells from the area and makes the skin feel smooth. You may also squeeze the juice of a lemon into the pulp of a ripe avocado and apply this mixture on the affected regions. Wash your face 15 minutes after application.
