How to Make Lips Pink
Simple Remedies For Lips Discoloration
Lips can be naturally dark or they can become dark over time. Lips can become dry and discolored from exposure to the elements and every day usage. Smoking can cause discoloration, especially if you have been smoking for a very long time.
The lips are one of the first parts of the face that are noticed. When you are talking to someone, they have a tendency of looking towards your lips because they are the source of the words that you speak. If you lips are discolored and you are sensitive to it, then you may become self-conscious every time someone is looking at your lips when you talk. This can be damaging to your self-esteem and may make you less outgoing.
There are a few remedies that you can try. Keep in mind that they will not work overnight, so you need to be patient.
- If you smoke, you need to stop. Continuing to smoke will only cause more damage to the sensitive skin on your lips.
- Your lips need moisture. Use a good petroleum jelly or lip balm. Make sure that you use it often to keep the lips from having the chance to dry out. Apply it especially at night before you go to bed.
- Some lipsticks have a lot of harsh chemicals or dyes in them. If you have a tendency of using dark colors, they may stain your lips. There is also the possibility that you may be having some kind of reaction to the lipstick that you use. You may need to change your lipstick or at least change the color.
- A dermatologist can determine if there is something going on that needs to be corrected. A reaction to environment or a possible skin condition. This may need professional treatment.
- You can use crushed rose petals on your lips to make them pinker.
- Lemon juice is used for bleaching dark spots on other parts of the face; this may work for the lips too. You need to make sure that you keep the lips moisturized as the lemon juice may dry them.
- A moist tea bag can be placed on the lips for a couple of minutes a day.
- Be sure to exfoliate your lips daily. This can be done easily with a toothbrush being rubbed across the lips. Use a mixture of olive oil and sugar or honey and sugar as an exfoliate.
- Do not lick or nibble on your lips. This leads to dry lips.
- Do not leave your lipstick (or any other makeup) on your face overnight.
- You can apply olive oil before you take a shower. The heat from the shower will help it penetrate into your lips.
- Clove oil will help moisten your lips. It is also an antiseptic, so it will help heal the lips.
- Eat plenty of fruits and vegetables, especially ones that provide Vitamin A.
- Drink plenty of water and other liquids.
Any of these remedies can be used, but if you are still doing the things that are causing your lips to darken, you will not be able to get them to be pinker. Being comfortable in your own skin is the biggest part to accepting how your lips look. Until you can do this, your lips may never look right to you.
