How to Remove Blackheads

Blackheads are the result of the accumulation of excess sebum, dirt particles and dead skin cells that get accumulated in the pores on the surface of the skin. They appear as tiny dark specks on the skin and may lead to acne if left untreated.

Home Remedies to Get Rid of Blackheads

There are several easy home remedies for getting rid of blackheads. Cleanse your face regularly with a mixture of equal quantities of groundnut oil and lemon juice. A very popular remedy is to grind a few pods and leaves of drumsticks with some fresh lemon juice and apply this mixture on your face. You can also make an effective face scrub at home by mixing two tablespoons of red sandalwood powder with one teaspoon of turmeric powder and some fresh milk. Gently apply this paste all over your face and leave it on for 15 minutes before rinsing it off with water. Washing your face with green tea is also an excellent natural means of removing excess oil and dead skin cells from its surface and preventing the appearance of blackheads. You may also cut and grind a handful of radish seeds to a fine paste with a little water and apply this on your face to remove blackheads naturally. For another remedy, mix two teaspoons each of honey and yogurt and add to it a pinch of salt and a few drops of lemon juice, and apply this mixture on your face. Allow the mixture to dry naturally in the air, and then wash your face with water and pat it dry with a soft towel. You could also soak 5-6 almonds in water overnight and grind them to paste the next morning using a little rose water. Massage this paste on your face in gentle circular motions and wash it away with water once it dries completely. Another effective way of getting rid of blackheads is to mix two teaspoons of black pepper powder with a little yogurt in order to obtain a thick paste and apply this on the skin. The paste should be washed off after 5-10 minutes of application. Steaming your face is also an excellent way of cleansing away dirt and oil from clogged pores on the surface of the skin. You may mix two tablespoons of baking soda with a liter of hot water, soak a soft face towel in this solution and put it across your face for 5 minutes, and then repeat the process.
