Its healing properties are attributed to the essential oils found in its bark. Cinnamon is a popular remedy for flatulence, menstrual cramps, colds, diarrhoea and nausea. A piece of cinnamon can be boiled in a cup of water and consumed hot for all these ailments and is known to provide relief. It works as an anti-ulcerative and helps fight frost bite while also functioning as an anti-inflammatory food that helps lessen inflammations in the body. However, it would be inadvisable to consume cinnamon in case a person is suffering from diabetes and is under medication. Doctors also do not recommend this spice for pregnant women.
