Stop Excessive Sweating Naturally: What Causes Too Much Perspiration

Why Excessive Sweating?

Excessive sweating is medically termed hyperhidrosis and the person suffering from it is prone to sweat excessively from one or several parts of the body. The places that sweat excessively are the underarms, hand, feet, and face. Most people go in for deodorants and body sprays, but these may not help as the day progresses. Hyperhidrosis is usually hereditary, but it can also be caused by hormonal imbalances, consuming spicy food, stress, and sometimes high emotional excitement.

How To Stop Excessive Sweating

There are several remedies you can try out at home to battle this condition. First and foremost ensure that the clothes you wear are lose fitting and made of cotton. Cotton will allow your skin to breath unlike other kinds of material which can irritate your skin, causing it to heat and sweat. Try to take a shower at least two or three times a day as this will help keep your skin clean and prevent bacterial action to some extent. In case you are overweight it would be advisable to lose weight in order to reduce the sweat levels as well. Avoid spicy food and in case your weight is normal, you may want to add food that is rich in fiber to your diet. Take a lemon that is not too ripe and cut it in half. Use each half to rub on your underarms to prevent excessive sweating and control the odour. Dabbing a bit of apple cider vinegar or regular vinegar to your underarms and leaving it on overnight will also help. You can wash it off in the morning. In case you suffer from sweaty feet you can soak it in tea, brewed from water and a few tea bags. Soak your feet in it once the mixture cools down. The tannin present in tea is known to reduce the bad odour and help against the sweating to some extent. Remember to wear cotton socks as well and keep your feet washed and use an anti bacterial soap to wash not just your feet but your socks, and if possible your foot wear as well. This is to prevent an environment where bacteria can thrive.

The more radical methods that people resort to include surgery and botox injections but these are best avoided as there are extreme side effects and a lot of people do not respond to them very well. These treatments also require medical attention before resorting to it, so the person is aware of all the side effects involved.
