The painful inflammation of a person’s bursa is referred to as bursitis. It can be caused by various reasons like bumping or repeated pressure, bruising, or overuse. Despite its various nicknames, bursitis does not usually affect only the person’s knee. The bursa is the fluid-filled sac which helps to protect the muscle, the ligaments, the tendons, or the skin which rubs across the bone. There are more than 150 bursae that run throughout the human bodies. But the ones that are most likely to get inflamed are the ones on the person’s elbows, shoulders, knees, and even heels. Though bursitis is normally associated with any kind of physical activity, one does not have to be only an athlete to develop this condition. Any time you exercise too strenuously, right after laying off your workout for a little while, you can aggravate the bursitis. One can also have a bursitis problem if the work or hobbies need repetitive physical movements, for example lifting things over one’s head etc. And at times bursitis can even flare up for no apparent reason.
Treatment For Hip Bursitis

This is known to help in reducing the swelling on the joint and also in giving the person relief from the accompanying the pain. Another useful remedy is to try soaking a piece of cloth in a small vessel filled with mullein tea. This cloth can then be repeatedly applied on to the bursitis. Another remedy entails applying some lobelia oil directly on to the joint. This helps in reducing any swelling that might be apparent on the joint. When a person is suffering from this problem they should try and get as much rest as possible. This especially so if the cause of the problem is due to some kind of repetitive activity or workout. Another remedy includes mixing a tablespoon of apple cider vinegar along with a tablespoon of honey. This application can be put on the affected area to help in reducing the swelling.
