American Hair Care: Tips To Care Your American Hair Styles
Tips To Maintain American Hair Style
American hair is particularly challenging to maintain as it tends to usually be more curly or unruly. The key to maintaining American hair well is balancing the amount of washing and moisturizing irrespective of the hair being oily or dry.
One of the best ways of taking care of American hair is regularly massaging the scalp as this promotes the production of oil which in turn helps minimize the dryness of the hair. Secondly a hair massage with warm oil at least twice a month is recommended to keep the hair moisturized.
American hair also needs to be conditioned a little more after being shampooed. It is preferable to use a shampoo that has low pH levels and no alcoholic contents. American hair should not be shampooed daily as it will tend to dry out even more and get frizzy and tangled. A hair wash frequency of every 3-4 days is ideal. Try and use a separate shampoo and conditioner while washing American hair rather than the 2 in1 shampoos that have both shampoo and conditioner. Nowadays there are also many leave in conditioners available in the market that are most suitable to American hair as to ensure that the hair is well hydrated .American hair should be dried by dabbing a towel against it and not rubbing the towel vigorously against the hair. The hair should be brushed only once relatively dry to prevent breaking. A wide tooth comb or just running your finger through your hair should help loosen the knots if any. Special care should also be taken while sleeping in case of American hair. Ideally a satin or silk pillowcase should be used while sleeping. This is because if a cotton pillow is used, the hair may get stuck in the cotton fibers and break.
A balanced diet also plays an important role in American hair care. The hair should be kept well hydrated by consuming at least 8-10 glasses of water everyday along with at least 8 hours of sleep. The diet should also include foods that are rich in Omega – 3 acids. Excessive consumption of alcohol and smoking should be avoided and completely stopped if possible as it contributes to hair loss. In case of braided American hair, drops of peppermint oil or jojoba oil should be applied around the hairline to strengthen the roots and also keep the braids free of bacteria. The braids should not be tied to tightly as they will cause the hair to break.
