Measles Symptoms | Home Remedies For Measles Treatment

Measles is a viral infection that mostly affects the respiratory system. It is very common in children. It is a highly contagious disease that spreads through the moisture in the patient’s breath or saliva. The chief causes behind this disease are unhygienic conditions of living and improper or unbalanced diet that weakens the immune system. The first symptoms of measles appear within a week of the infection. These are sneezing, cold, runny nose, dry cough, sore throat, swollen glands, watering eyes, feverishness, loss of appetite, diarrhea and body aches. In a few severe cases, the body temperature may rise significantly, causing inflammation of the brain and delirium. After these initial symptoms, small grainy bumps appear inside the mouth, followed by tiny itchy red spots, which begin to appear on the sides of the face and the neck and then gradually spread to other parts of the body.

Natural Cure For Measles

There are a few home remedies for measles.

  • The seeds of eggplant are known to naturally strengthen the body’s immune system and thereby prevent measles. Administer a dose of a gram of these seeds to the child every day.

  • Dry a few raw roots of turmeric in the sun and then grind them to a powder. Now mix half a teaspoon of this powder with the juice extracted from the leaves of bitter gourd and a little honey and make a paste. Eating this paste daily improves the condition of the patient.

  • Barley water, into which a few drops of fresh oil of sweet almonds have been added, cures the cough that accompanies the infection and relieves the patient to some extent.

  • Since the infection affects the inner walls of the mouth and the tongue, the patient’s body is unable to produce enough saliva, often resulting in a lack of thirst and hunger.

  • Orange juice is highly beneficial in remedying this situation, as it not only stimulates normal appetite but is also a source of natural nourishment and is easy to digest.

  • A solution of lemon juice and water also provides the body the necessary amount of moisture.

  • A mixture of powdered liquorice and honey is very useful in treating the cough that children suffer from during a bout of measles.

  • Besides these measures, make sure that the room of the patient is not too brightly lit, as the eyes are especially sensitive to harsh light during this infection.

  • Applying mud packs to the abdomen and the chest of the patient and giving them lukewarm water baths every day keeps the body temperature down and relieves itching.
