Treatment For Typhoid Fever–Symptoms And Causes Of Bacterial Fever
Typhoid Fever Symptoms And Treatments
Typhoid fever can be caused by two kinds of bacteria, namely salmonella typhi and salmonella paratyphi. Human beings are carriers of this condition and they can spread the disease through food and water. In other words, you can develop the disease by consuming contaminated food and water. This condition is symptomised by a slow fever that progresses gradually till it goes up to 104 degree F. The fever is accompanied by stomach upsets, diarrhoea, gastroenteritis, occasionally reddish pink rashes and continues and copious sweating. It would be advisable to consult your local health care provider as soon as you notice these symptoms. The physician will put you on a course of antibiotics which would kill off the salmonella bacteria. On the home front, the patient would require a room that is clean and airy in order to recover fast and prevent further aggravation. Make sure that you wash your hands with antibacterial soap after every visit to the restroom. Do not share food or consume food from the same unwashed vessel or glass lest the infection spread. Keep separate bottles for water and other liquids for the other members in the family. Drink plenty of water, at least 10-12 glasses every day to compensate for the water you lose due to the diarrhoea and sweating. The water should be boiled thoroughly and then cooled to avoid getting re-infected. Lime juice and orange juice can be consumed a few times a day along with a mashed banana to which a teaspoon of honey has been added. Since this food is mostly liquid and semi solid, it will be easier on the stomach and digest easily. If coriander leaves are available, you can mash the leaves of a few of them and extract the juice. Take two teaspoons of freshly extracted juice and mix it into a cup of buttermilk. This concoction can be had twice or thrice a day. Take about 8-10 cloves and boil them in 1-1/2 litres of water. When about half the water has evaporated, allow it to cool and strain the liquid. Sip this throughout the day rather than having it in one go. Continue this treatment for a week or two for best results. Sip a little hot water into which a spoon of honey has been added through the course of the day. This will keep you from getting dehydrated and the honey will provide some amount of energy.
