How To Get Rid Of Bad Body Odor Naturally

The worst thing to flaunt around is a smelly armpit. No one in the world likes their nostrils to be assailed by foul smell. If it is annoying to you, it is likely to be unbearable for others. Fortunately there is a billion dollar industry actively engaged in countering this and helping you smell like a fresh rose, a jasmine or any exotic flower that you can think of. But, other than this expensive proposition, there are some home remedies that you can try too, with great effect.

Body odor is caused essentially by bacteria that accumulate in your armpits due to sweating. So it goes without saying that personal hygiene is a pre-requisite when it comes to getting rid of body odor. Sweat by itself is totally odorless; it is the bacteria that thrive in it that emanates the foul smell. Showering at multiple times during the day will greatly reduce body odor. Gently dry-brushing your skin before each shower is also advised as this exfoliates the dead skin cells that trap these bacteria in the first place.

Home Remedies To Cure Body Odor

  • Applying baking soda under the armpits also kills these bacteria.

  • Some people also advise a mild solution of hydrogen peroxide. Mix a teaspoonful with a glass of water and wash your underarms with it. This greatly prevents body odor.

  • Peanut butter is something else that can be tried. Apply under both your arms before going to sleep and wash off in the morning for maximum results.

  • When taking your bath use water mixed with rose water or sandalwood oil. These are pleasantly aromatic and their aroma tends to linger on.

  • Another solution would be to use 3 teaspoons of vanilla extract mixed with 1 cup of water and 1 teaspoon of rubbing alcohol. Bottle this in a sprayer and spray all over your body. Keep the mixture handy with you throughout the day.

  • Tea tree oil also is also effective as it is a proven antibacterial herb. Mix two drops into an ounce of water and it can serve as an excellent deodorant.

  • Apple cider vinegar is another product that has been used with success. When applied, it reduces the pH level of the skin thus making it difficult for the bacteria to survive.

  • Diet is also an influencing factor. Aroma of pungent foods like onion and garlic are often carried in the sweat. Restrict, if not avoid, these foods.

  • Drinking a cup of tomato juice everyday for a week will also help in getting rid of the foul odor.
