Melasma is a skin condition which leads to hyperpigmentaion. It causes brown spots on the exposed parts of the body like the neck and forearms it also affects parts of the face like the cheeks, nose, chin and forehead. It has been found that people with darker skin are prone to melasma more than fair skinned people. This can give rise to another problem known as melanoma. In order to remove melanoma, surgery would have to be done and thus it is best to consult your physician and find out whether the melanoma is malignant or not and then consider surgery under his recommendation. To get rid of melasma or age spots there are some easy home remedies. The easiest is to get some mint leaves and make a juice out of it and apply it all over your face. Along with cooling your skin it will also help in lightening the spots. Mix some grated cucumber with some lemon juice and apply it all over those affected areas and leave it to dry, then once it is dry wash it off with lukewarm water. This will also help you get rid of age spots. You can also mix cucumber juice with a spoon of rose water and some vinegar are use it as a lotion everyday to help lighten your brown spots.


Even potato juice can have the same effect on your skin. You could also dry some orange peel grind it and then mix it with some rosewater and a spoon of curd and apply it all over the dark areas, allow it to dry up and then wash it off gently. Such remedies can also be used to get rid of age spots. Rubbing aloe vera gel on these spots can have a smoothening effect and make them slowly fade away. Buttermilk has lactic acid which can be used as an effective skin cleanser, so apply buttermilk and cleaning your face regularly will reduce such spots. Castor oil has medicinal properties and so rubbing it on the affected areas will help to lighten these kinds of spots.
