Cancer Fighting Popular Foods

Research has shown that almost one third of all deaths caused by cancer may have been related to the diet of the individual. It has been observed that there are many natural foods that tend to contain certain cancer preventing properties on account of the anti oxidants present in them. These anti oxidants tend to neutralize the damage that is caused by the free radicals in the human body. These popular cancer fighting foods not only help in preventing cancer but some of the foods may also help in inhibiting the growth of the cancerous cells or even reduce the size one the tumor. Avocadoes are one of the most popular cancer preventing foods as they are rich in glutathione which is an extremely powerful antioxidant that attacks the free radicals present in the body of the individual by blocking the absorption of certain fats b the intestine. Avocadoes are also known to supply the body with more potassium than bananas as well and are also a very good source of beta carotene. Some more popular cancer fighting foods are broccoli, cauliflower and cabbage which are known to have a chemical compound in them called indole-3-carbinol which fights against breast cancer. This is done by converting a cancer promoting estrogen in a variety that is more protective. Broccoli sprouts are also known to have a phytochemicals known as sulforaphane which is also useful in preventing certain types of cancers such as rectal and colon cancer, Carrots are also commonly used cancer preventing foods because they are an abundant source of beta carotene which is known to aid in reducing a huge number of cancers such as mouth, lung, throat, bladder, stomach, breast and even prostrate cancer. Similarly jalapenos and chili peppers are also commonly recommended cancer fighting foods as they contain capsaicin which is a chemical that tends to neutralize nitrosamines which are cancer causing substances and these foods are also useful in preventing stomach cancer. Some other popular cancer fighting foods are cruciferous vegetables, figs, flax, nuts, garlic, grapefruits, kale, mushrooms and licorice roots. On the other hand there are also certain foods that are known as carcinogens or cancer causing foods. Cancer tumors tend to develop by feeding on the sugar present in the individuals blood stream. This sugar is found in sugar rich foods with simple carbs. Most of the glycemic foods which mean foods that are rich in refined sugars are known to be cancer causing foods.
